As an affiliate owner, you have one priority. Just one.
Protect the culture of your affiliate with extreme prejudice.
A culture is defined as the social behaviour of a society. In biology, it’s defined as the substance that maintains tissue cells to sustain growth.
Both apply right here.
Your culture isn’t your location, equipment, community, certifications or programming. Your culture is the way people feel when they walk in, how they feel when they walk out, how people treat them while they are there. That’s your culture. That’s the reason new people join, the reason members stay and the reason your business will keep growing.
One bad cell can upset the entire culture and trust me, it spreads like cancer. Negative behaviours, bad attitudes, careless comments can all damage your culture and impact your reputation and as an affiliate owner, it’s your job to deal with it.
It takes years to grow your culture but only minutes to destroy it so you just don’t get to be complacent about it. If anyone threatens the culture of your affiliate, whether it’s a member, a coach, or even another owner, then you need to get rid of that cancer immediately. Cut it out.
As an affiliate owner and leader, it’s your responsibility to grow some balls and get rid of that person or you’re going to risk losing much more than a single membership. Pull them aside, find out what the hell is happening and get it fixed. If they can’t fix it and promise not to repeat it, then they need to go. Remove the cancer and let the healthy cells grow and thrive.
Deal with it like a leader.
You might be the nicest guy or girl in the world and the first time you will feel like shit but after that, it will get easier. It will get easier. Plus, you’re probably going to find out that everyone else is happy that person is gone.
Then, you know what will happen? You’re going to realise your intuition was on point and you should trust it more often. You’re also going to spot it quicker next time and deal with it before it festers.
Being ruthless for the good of your culture is your #1 responsibility as an affiliate owner.
Now Go Protect Your Culture.
